Child Welfare Worker Support
Child welfare staff are champions for vulnerable children. Their caseload numbers often exceed recommendations. They travel great distances to visit children and families. Their work with children who have experienced abuse or neglect can cause secondary trauma. In Iowa, these realities lead to a 30% annual burnout and turnover rate, resulting in even more instability for the children and families involved.

A significant factor in children reaching permanency (or more simply put: a forever family) is directly correlated to case manager stability. The statistics tell the story - if a child has only one case manager, they have a 74.5% chance of achieving permanency, but as soon as a child experiences staff turnover, their chance of achieving permanency decreases to a mere 17.5%.
Encouraging child welfare workers not only lifts them up, but when they excel in their work, children and families are direct beneficiaries.

"WE SEE YOU!"
WE SEE YOU is a collaborative effort of churches and organizations teaming up to encourage hundreds of Iowa's child welfare professionals. Whether it's catered breakfasts, tea parties, flower deliveries, coffee drop-offs, popcorn bars, or handwritten notes - it's an honor to cheer on those who care for our community's most vulnerable.
While the work they do may be incredibly confidential, their efforts do not go unseen. We see you!

Coming Soon: Child Welfare Appreciation Luncheon
We're so excited to be launching a first-of-its-kind Child Welfare Appreciation Luncheon in October 2025 in Des Moines. This event, in partnership with many churches and organizations, will celebrate our community's child welfare professionals.
We're in the early planning stages. If you're interested in getting involved, we'd love to hear from you!
